Antarctica
Antarctica is the most remote and pristine wilderness on earth, a continent of staggering scale where glaciers the size of cities calve into steel-grey seas and the silence is interrupted only by the crack of shifting ice and the calls of wildlife. The Antarctic Peninsula is home to vast colonies of Adélie and Gentoo penguins, who navigate the ice with surprising speed and personality. Humpback and minke whales surface alongside expedition zodiacs, feeding in the nutrient-rich waters of the Southern Ocean. Icebergs of impossible blue drift through channels flanked by mountains that have never been named. These images were made aboard a Quark Expeditions vessel in December 2025, during a voyage through the Drake Passage and along the western Antarctic Peninsula.
